Question: My heels crack and bleed. Is there anything I can do?

Answer: Yes! There are many skin emollients that may be used to help this problem, but they must be applied often. This is usually a chronic condition that has no real cure. Sometimes a prescription cream is necessary with special application methods.

Question: When I get up in the morning I get terrible heel pain. It lasts for a while and them it seems to go away. What's happening?

Answer: See the "Help" page for more information, but you may have plantar fasciitis (inflammation of the arch ligament). X-rays will determine the pathology. Fortunately, these conditions usually respond to conservative therapy.
